A: No. However the chimney shroud is a great way to enhance the look of your home and chimney as well as conceal your unsightly spark arrestor.

Q: What is the difference between a Chimney Chase cover and a Chimney Shroud?
A: A chimney chase cover is required for all fireplaces requiring a framed chimney. The purpose of the chimney chase cover is to ensure that your chimney is sealed from weather elements while protecting your metal flue from corrosion. Chimney shrouds can provide an extra layer of protection from weather elements however, they are primarily designed to enhance the look of your home as well as conceal unsightly spark arrestors.
