Q: Are Glass Doors Required on Burntech fireplaces?

A: Yes. In California Title 24 requires that glass doors be installed on all indoor fireplaces. Title 24 is the Energy Efficiency Standards for residential and nonresidential buildings that were established in 1978 in response to a legislative mandate to reduce California's energy consumption. Burntech fireplaces have been tested with glass doors. For more information see our TFS installation guide.

Q: Do Burntech fireplaces come with Glass Doors?

A: No. Fireplaces door sizes and styles are unlimited. Customers prefer to select their own styles to meet their specific needs for size and décor.

Q: Are Glass doors required outdoors?

A: No. Glass doors are not required outdoors. However, they are installed by our customers for design and safety reasons.

Q: Can I use any type of door outside?

A: No. We recommend Stainless steel or doors that are coated with a weather resistant high temperature paint to prevent corrosion.

Q: Can I order custom doors?

A: Absolutely! We make custom doors to meet our customer’s needs.

Q: Can I install my own fireplace doors?

A: We recommend the use of a qualified professional for installation to make sure that sizing and proper installation methods are followed for safety and proper installation.  Yes.  For talented do it yourselfers and contractors, and If installed per the installation instructions, basic fireplace doors can be fairly easy to install.  Be sure to follow all sizing, installation and safety requirements.
